YouTube Premium adds prepaid option to online payment menu

YouTube Premium customers in France, Germany, Spain and the UK can now pay with Paysafe Group’s Paysafecard.

The online prepaid solution can now be used by consumers to sign up for the enhanced version of the Google-owned digital video platform, which provides ad-free videos, access to YouTube original content and the ability to save videos and songs onto a mobile device to watch offline.

Paysafecard is typically used by customers without access to a credit card or digital banking services, or those who do not want to enter their financial data online for security reasons.

The prepaid solution is available to purchase at petrol station chains, supermarkets, lottery retailers and kiosks across multiple European markets.

Paysafe Group and Google Play have been in partnership since June 2018, and today’s news is an extension of a burgeoning relationship between the two companies.

Udo Müller, CEO of Paysafecard, commented: “Paysafecard provides an easy and secure way for consumers to pay for goods and services online by removing the need to share financial data.

“We’re delighted to be extending our relationship with Google to support additional services in its portfolio. By giving customers the option to pay for its service using cash online, YouTube Premium is opening up its membership to millions of additional customers.”
