Westfield UK centres to show Wimbledon finals on large digital screens

The Wimbledon ladies' and gentlemen's singles finals will be broadcast at the Four Dials, Westfield Stratford City, and in Westfield London Square, with the shopping centre sites turned into fan zones.

It comes as Ocean Outdoor, an operator of digital out of home advertising, secured a landmark agreement to gain access to the tennis championship live stream as part of a content partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).

Jaguar Land Rover will sponsor Ocean's UK wide coverage of the championships, which is set to get under way on 1 July.

Ocean's existing content partnership deal with AELTC gives Ocean access to a full range of daily highlights and up-to-the-minute scores provided by Wimbledon. The move to show the finals at both Westfield locations has been permitted by BBC Sport and discussions are ongoing to extend live coverage to other cities such as Manchester.

Jaguar's sponsorship deal also includes live coverage of all first round matches for Britain's highest profile players, while matches featuring the Canadian player Milos Raonic, Jaguar's global brand ambassador, will also be screened.

Throughout the Wimbledon fortnight, Jaguar branding will appear in a 60-second ad loop across Ocean's ‘The Grid’ city centre network in nine cities.

Kevin Henry, Ocean Outdoor’s head of content and sponsorship, said "This is ground-breaking content for out-of-home and guarantees exposure for the championships across our portfolio.”

Ocean is making a concerted push into live broadcasting, having carried fashion shows from global designer brands such as Victoria Beckham, working in association with the British Fashion Council.
