Superdry looks online for new finance boss

Clothing retailer Superdry has named Nick Gresham as its interim chief financial officer.

Gresham is currently the chief financial officer at online cycling and sports equipment retailer Wiggle, and will join Superdry on 3 June and become a director of the company.

He has previously held chief financial officer roles at Oak Furnitureland and Connect Group, and his career in retail to date has included finance roles at Homebase, Home Retail Group, GUS and Debenhams.

The new recruit will succeed Ed Barker, who resigned on 2 April and is currently serving out his notice period. The two will work together during a handover process ahead of the group’s preliminary results scheduled for 4 July.

Peter Williams, the new chairman of the board at Superdry, said: "I am delighted to have secured an interim CFO of the calibre of Nick, who has extensive experience in senior finance roles across the retail sector.

“This is an important step for Superdry as we continue to focus on rebuilding the board and putting the right leadership and corporate governance structure in place."

Several other key retail appointments have been made in the last fortnight, with Mark Wright, the former multichannel managing director at Jack Wills, assuming the role of global operations director at Fat Face.

Homebase has also this week promoted head of IT, Paul Cannon, to an IT director role, as part of a slight shift in the structure of the DIY chain’s leadership team. The business continues to move forward with its restructuring and build out a new strategy led by turnaround specialist Hilco, following a difficult era under Wesfarmers ownership.
