Six by Nico set for London opening

Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone is to open his first London restaurant, on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia.

Called Six by Nico, the venue will introduce a format that is new to London, though there are existing branches in Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool.

Six by Nico introduces a new six-course tasting menu every six weeks, never serving the same menu twice. Simeone is committed to making his food accessible, with the six course menu costing £35 at the London site – and £29 outside the capital where property prices are lower. A wine pairing option is available for £33. The dished will take inspiration from a variety of sources and cuisines, from Spain to Thailand. The menus will be unveiled two weeks before they are served in the restaurant.

Glasgow-based design agency Severino has designed the restaurant, which will provide 80 covers. It will feature industrial design elements such as exposed pipes, with a theatrical open kitchen so that diners can see their food being prepared. Work is currently underway on-site in preparation for a spring opening. The building was previously a branch of pizza chain Zizzi.

"We are very excited to bring an unforgettable culinary experience to London. With its central location, Charlotte Street provides us with a great opportunity to join the city’s thriving restaurant scene,” said Simeone. “Restaurant trends are moving towards experiential dining and at Six by Nico our menus are inspired by great memories and interesting stories. Our new London restaurant site will create the perfect recipe for an exciting epicurean adventure."
