SAP and Wipro to co-develop new retail software

India-based IT, consulting and business process services company, Wipro, has announced a new partnership with global software titan, SAP.

As part of the tie-up, the two companies have agreed to go to market together on new software products, and co-develop solutions for the fashion and wider retail industry.

They intend to create new tools for retailers to better manage business processes and customer experience. The work will focus on developing new functionality in multiple areas – from fashion manufacturing, to in-store merchandising.

Co-developed retail products include one for retail merchandise management, which is based on SAP’s Hana cloud infrastructure, and covers procurement, supply chain, and finance features, as well as supporting pricing, promotions, and assortment planning.

The partnership with Wipro has also helped create an advanced fashion manufacturing functionality in SAP Hana, and a new system for retail stores.

Each of the new products can be integrated on retailers’ existing SAP cloud infrastructure.

Achim Schneider, global head of SAP Retail, said: “SAP Cloud for Retail is our strategic cloud solution, designed to support retail merchandise management, omnichannel pricing and promotions which will help retail and fashion companies capture new opportunities and develop targeted business models in a dynamic market.

“The industry needs to create responsive, innovative and integrated solutions to adapt quickly to changing market conditions."
