#RetailEXPO19 Retail Design Student Awards winners named

The winners of the fifth annual Retail Design Student Awards have been announced at Retail Design Expo.

The awards scheme, run by Retail Design World, sees students from six colleges tackle briefs set by major retailers. The students are supported by established creatives from UK design agencies, who act as mentors, and the entries are judged by a panel of retail design experts.

This year, briefs were set by the Co-Op, The Body Shop and Costa Coffee. Mentors were Helen Shelley of MWorldwide, Tim Greenhalgh and Mario Brown of Fitch, Howard Sullivan of YourStudio, Jon Lee of Fitch, and Ross Hunter of Graven Images.

Bebhinn McDonnell of Manchester Metropolitan University was named as the winner of the Co-Op brief, which was also tackled by students at Middlesex University.

Jovana Rasic of the University of Westminster won the contest to meet The Body Shop brief, which was also tackled by the University of Creative Arts.

Rugile Gudaiyte of the University of Huddersfield won the Costa Coffee brief, competing against students from Glasgow School of Art.

“The quality of entries to these awards is inspiring, and shows that the future of the retail design sector is in good hands,” says Retail Design World editor Matthew Valentine. “Every year, the entrants come up with ideas that impress the judging panel, and this year was no exception. These designers have great careers ahead of them.”
