RBTE combines with RDSE and RDE to become RetailEXPO

Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE) has combined with Retail Digital Signage Expo (RDSE) and Retail Design Expo (RDE). The unified show will be held at London’s Olympia on May 1 & 2 2019 and will see 15,000 retailers, tech vendors and designers attend the event featuring brand new start-up zones, as well as enhanced visitor navigation.

The RetailEXPO will also boast a unified conference stream featuring inspirational headline talks from leading retailers – including Shop Direct, Naked Wines and Primark – as well as practical experience-based sessions from influencers across the technology and design industries.

The move to unify the three events was based on independent research from 150 senior retailers who said the industry needs more collaboration between technology, marketing and design to deliver the enhanced experience customers are crying out for in a challenging environment.

“There is a seismic shift going on in UK retail – every day we read about store closures, yet at the same time UK retail sales are actually increasing by 1.9% year-on-year,” said Nicole Mills, senior event director at Reed Exhibitions, parent company of RetailEXPO.

“As the UK’s leading retail event, we had to react, which prompted us to undertake significant research amongst the UK’s most senior retailers – and they all told us the same story.  Survival means addressing customer needs holistically, which requires traditionally siloed departments, including technology and design, working together in a unified fashion, whilst also bringing departments, such as marketing and customer experience, into decisions around technology and design.”

Matt Bradley, event director of RetailEXPO, added: “The consolidation of all three retail shows into the RetailEXPO not only mirrors the changing dynamics of the industry and how retailers are looking to enhance customer experience, but it also allows us to deliver more innovation and inspiration to our show audiences.
