#RBTE2018: Clevergift on solving problem of last-minute gifting

CleverGift chief executive, Kealan Lennon, believes he has helped bring Amazon’s capabilities to gifting.

The Clevergift platform allows retailers to integrate functionality into their eCommerce sites that means consumers can buy a last-minute gift and send the recipient a scheduled notification at a relevant time such as on their birthday or Christmas Day.

It is aimed at solving the problem of those who have left it too late to buy a gift for a loved one, but do not want to resort to Amazon and its Prime delivery service.

“On the 16th of December Harrods says it is closed for business online, so where do I go [for a Christmas gift]?,” said Lennon. “I go to Amazon.”

The Clevergift technology also allows the recipient to choose the correct size, style or colour.

Lennon said the integration of Clevergift to an eCommerce site can be completed with only two lines of Javascript.

He added: “We’ve solved last minute gifting. Between 40-50% of consumers buy gifts last minute.

“Amazon is eating the lunch of every retailer. Jeff Bezos realised two things: the importance of one click ordering and reduced delivery times. And we’ve bought both of those things to gifting.”
