New store concept for Sterling Furniture

'Big box' retailer Sterling Furniture is opening a new Sterling Home store format later this month. The store, in Uddingston, Glasgow, has been designed by Dalziel & Pow.

Sterling has eight large stores, all in Scotland and has developed the new store format to address changing consumer demands. The brief for the project called for Dalziel & Pow “To create a new environment suitable for a rapidly changing marketplace, relevant for our customers, products and services,” says Sterling Furniture managing director Gordon Mearns.

All areas of customer experience – from arrival at the store, through browsing and purchase to home delivery – have been addressed in the new concept. The brand identity has been redesigned to reflect this, introducing the Sterling Home name, and the presentation of products and promotions in-store has been replanned.

Dedicated areas have been created for beds, interior finishes, and lifestyle accessories, while an in-store cafe will encourage shoppers to dwell longer and consider their purchases.

“We are really looking forward to seeing our work with Sterling take shape, it's been a very ‘connected’ journey so far, with the Sterling team inspiring us to push the concept to the limits of the opportunities. This will be a benchmark for its sector, a real beacon on the retail park,” says Dalziel & Pow creative director David Dalziel.
