New retail design for stores on QE2

Cruise ship the QE2 has installed a redesigned retail space, to reflect its new role as a floating luxury hotel in Dubai.

The 400 sq m (4,305 sq ft) of selling space has been fitted to reflect the ship’s reputation as a role model for the importance of and ingenuity of maritime engineering and craftsmanship. The store interiors have been designed by Retail Concepts Design of Dubai, and manufactured and installed by Umdasch.

Materials have been chosen to recall the glamourous history of the vessel, with solid wood furniture, and illuminated high gloss showcases.

Built in 1967, the QE2 has completed 1,400 cruises, covering around 6m nautical miles, in its lifetime, hosting around 2.5m passengers. Now in a permanent mooring, it offers a choice of 13 bars and restaurants, a spa, theatre, fitness centre and pool, and 224 suites and guest rooms.

Guests can choose to take a Heritage Tour of the ship to gain insights into its history.
