Ex-Boden marketing director takes top job at Cox & Cox

Cox & Cox – an online and mail order home interior products business – has promoted chief operating officer (COO), Richard Bell, to CEO.

Bell is the former director of marketing at clothing retailer Boden, but has been at Cox & Cox since April 2018. 

At Boden, Bell spent almost 11 years in senior marketing roles between 2003 and 2014. He arrived at Cox & Cox as COO after a spell at shirts retailer Charles Tyrwhitt and as commercial director of the now defunct kitchenware business Steamer Trading.

As Cox & Cox CEO, his main aim will be to drive awareness of the business and, ultimately, continue the growth of an organisation that will mark its 20th anniversary in 2021. Until now, the stewardship of the business's day-to-day activities has been in the hands of its owners.

A statement issued by Cox & Cox accompanying news of the CEO appointment said the business is adding new categories to support its expansion. New ranges such as custom-made upholstery and hardware have reportedly driven customer retention and frequency, while a revamped CRM system allows for personalised customer recommendations.

This year, dedicated ranges for pets and kids have been launched, and there are plans to introduce an own-brand paint range in February 2020.

Commenting on his new role, Bell said: “Cox & Cox is at a very exciting stage of its journey, and I am extremely proud to be a part of it.

“So much good work has been done in the past two years, laying down a foundation for profitable growth, and ensuring that we build on this momentum.”
