New 24 hour SPAR store from AF Blakemore

Food wholesale and distribution company A.F. Blakemore & Son has relocated its inaugural company-owned SPAR store to a larger forecourt site in Bentley, Walsall.

The new flagship store, designed in-house by the Blakemore Retail division, incorporates new Subway and Greggs departments and a ten pump BP petrol station, operating 24 hours a day.

It is next door to the company’s original site, which was acquired in 1985 and played a key role in the development of A.F Blakemore’s support of SPAR’s Eight Till Late store concept.

Blakemore Retail Managing Director Matt Teague says: “Bentley is a major investment for Blakemore Retail and will be the largest flagship store we open this year.  Its trading characteristics reflect our store development strategy perfectly. The new store provides wider food choices to local residents with the addition of high-profile brands in Greggs and Subway.”

The store features energy saving lighting and refrigeration units, and a defibrillator in case of future emergencies.
