Modern kebab house Maison Bab opens in Covent Garden

The founders of middle Eastern restaurant Le Bab, in London’s Soho, have opened a new ‘modern kebab house’ called Maison Bab on Mercer Walk in Covent Garden.

Restauranteurs Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet have taken a 297 sq m (3,200 sq ft) corner site owned by The Mercers Company for the new restaurant. It offers 45 covers at ground level and a further 30 in the basement level.

Design is by Angus Buchanan. Interiors feature opulent finishes, geometric patterns and a dusky pink colour scheme. Green booth seating features on the ground floor, along with additional seats at the bar.

Downstairs features a wall decorated with 50,000 playing cards and an open kitchen.

The restaurant offers a new-style kebab menu, with bolder and more rustic flavours than its sister venue.

“We’ve been developing this concept for almost two years now, so we’re incredibly excited to unveil what we’ve been working on. Kebabs offer a huge breadth of culinary scope, and this restaurant will celebrate that diversity,” says restaurant co-founder Stephen Tozer. “The philosophy on quality ingredients will stay the same, but diners will be in for a very different experience - we are really excited about some new vegan ‘hero dishes’ on the menu at Maison Bab. We hope to make this one of the best kebab houses in the world, adding to London’s already incredible and diverse restaurant scene.”
