Microsoft offers free technology in fashion workshops

Microsoft’s London flagship store has announced a weekend of fash-tech workshops to mark the start of London Fashion Week.

The technology giant has partnered with London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London to run a number of free technology and fashion workshops across the weekend 14-15 September 2019.

The events are aimed at customers who are interested in fash-tech innovations and will feature interactive workshops and panel discussions from London College of Fashion, UAL, as well as Swarovski’s global senior sustainability lead, Irene-Marie Seelig.

The event plans to tackle topics including sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship and design.

“Through unique retail experiences, Microsoft Store aims to bring people closer to a range of technologies, and the Microsoft Store x London College of Fashion Curriculum is just one example of how the flagship is the best place to experience all that’s possible with Microsoft,” said senior store manager at Microsoft's London flagship, John Carter.

Matthew Drinkwater, head of fashion innovation agency, LCF, added: “We want to inspire people to think differently about the fashion industry. By creating a unique workshop programme, Microsoft Store and London College of Fashion, UAL is bringing people closer to the fashion industry and showcasing how cutting-edge technology such as Microsoft HoloLens can disrupt the industry as we know it. It’s an exciting opportunity to experience the future of fashion on our doorstep.”

Register for a workshop here. Participants will also be able to create a tote bag using Microsoft Surface devices, which will be printed in store for free.
