Meadowhall uses mobile app to reward retail staff

Yorkshire-based shopping centre Meadowhall hosted a dedicated sales event for its retail staff last month, via its new MallComm mobile communication tool.

A range of special deals were offered to the shopping hub's 8,000 staff through a bespoke event tab on the mobile app. Interested parties could then take the offer into stores or restaurants based at Meadowhall to buy a range of products, some of which had discounts of 40%.

Meadowhall launched its MallComm tool earlier this year, in partnership with Toolbox Marketing, to improve communication between its retailer network. The app is accessible via smartphone, tablet or PC.

David Fuller, head of digital marketing at Toolbox, commented: "MallComm allows the shopping centre team to communicate instantly with tenants providing them with details of events, daily sales and footfall and has helped to build a community environment.

"With regards to the exclusive shopping event, hosting the offers through the app made it really simple for staff to sign up and get involved in the event which was success across the board."
