Mastercard and Next Retail Concepts offer up new online CX

Mastercard and Next Retail Concepts have teamed up to provide a new way for consumers to shop online.

The two organisations have created what they describe as an innovative digital environment that allows shoppers to browse and buy items from US brand Fred Segal using proprietary technology from Next Retail Concepts – the idea being that it replicates the 3D physical store experience on screen.

Available across any browser, the shopping experience enables people to virtually navigate their way through a store, interact with products, and access digital content curated by the retailer.

Users can buy as if they were making a typical online transaction because the technology integrates with a merchant’s existing eCommerce platform.

Sherri Haymond, executive vice president for digital partnerships at Mastercard, said: “Together with partners like Next Retail Concepts, we are evolving eCommerce to bring the physical store to life in an immersive, digital environment, all while enabling exclusive offers and seamless payment.”

The platform is being premiered at 29Rooms in Los Angeles, Refinery29’s experiential event.

Neil Cole, CEO & founder of Next Retail Concepts, commented: “Our proprietary technology transforms the traditional eCommerce landscape within our innovative platform to create exciting and engaging immersive shoppable experiences that tell a brand story.”

The partners involved in the initiative said the new eCommerce proposition also supports retailers in providing customised offers, and lends itself to learning more about consumer behaviours and analysing overall store performance.

The technology will be on show at the 29Rooms event from today until 9 December.
