Made.com gets together with dating app Bumble

Online furniture retailer Made.com has matched with online dating app Bumble in Germany.

The two companies have joined forces for a new initiative that centres on the professional networking mode of the app, Bumble Bizz. As part of the collaboration, the retailer is offering a unique grant to a women-owned businesses in Germany.

Bumble is no longer just a dating app, where members of the opposite sex match on Bumble and women are required to make the first move – it is now a wider networking tool for users.

Bumble’s Bizz mode allows people to expand their network and to make what the company describes as empowering career moves.

And until 18 October within Bumble Bizz, all women entrepreneurs in Germany, who have a German business entity, have a chance to nominate their organisation to win €20,000 from Bumble and €10,000 worth of design products from Made.com.

The competition comes as Made.com continues its expansion in Germany. It launched a local website in the country in 2014 and followed that up with the opening of a Berlin showroom soon after, before adding a Hamburg showroom earlier this year.

Annabel Jack, chief commercial officer at Made.com, said: “At Made, supporting both up and coming and established female talent is something we feel incredibly strongly about.

“We’re proud to support the 'Bumble Bizz Grant' and give female founders an important platform and opportunity.”

Earlier this year Made.com reported revenue for 2018 had increased by 37% to £173 million, hitting £100 million in the UK for the first time. International sales are expected to overtake those in the UK in 2019 as expansion in new territories continues.
