Kingfisher names Van Oosten as new digital lead

JJ Van Oosten has joined Kingfisher as chief customer and digital officer.

Van Oosten has taken up the position as of today (6 January), after spending the last nine months at the Lego Group, where he was chief digital officer, overseeing a push to make eCommerce the largest part of the toy company’s business.

Van Oosten has previously held senior digital positions at REWE and Travis Perkins, as well at Tesco from 2008 to 2011, during which time he held the positions of CIO and non-food change director.

He will be returning to Kingfisher where he spent three years as group IT director back in the mid-late noughties.

“JJ is an experienced digital leader with a track record of driving change in international companies,” said Thierry Garnier, CEO of Kingfisher. “He has a key role to play at Kingfisher as we look to accelerate our digital and data capabilities and grow eCommerce sales.”

Van Oosten added: “I’m delighted to be returning to Kingfisher after a decade that has seen technology change the world, especially in retail. I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on the foundations Kingfisher has established.”
