Goodbye Shop Direct, hello The Very Group

Online retail business and financial services provider Shop Direct has, today (13 January), officially changed its name to The Very Group.

The change of moniker was announced last year and reported on by Essential Retail at the time, but in a fresh statement the company said its new corporate identity clicks into gear today reflecting the next phase of its ongoing transformation.

The rebrand brings the group’s name and identity in line with its flagship consumer brand,, drawing on the significant brand awareness of this website which sells clothing, toys, electricals and a range of other products.

The Very Group, which as it stands has annual revenues of circa £2 billion and over four million customers, said it will recruit for 150 roles in data and technology over the next two years as it looks to support an increasingly digital retail future. In addition, hundreds more jobs are up for grabs at the company’s new fulfilment centre in the east midlands, which will be operational next year.

“We want to be the number one destination for shoppers who value flexible ways to pay. We’ll achieve that by constantly improving what we do, innovating with data and technology at our core, and delivering the best experience for our customers and our colleagues.”
