Essential Retail merges with Retail Design World

Essential Retail and Retail Design World, will be amalgamating to create one single news site for the retail industry.

Mirroring a changing dynamic in the retail industry, from the end of this month Essential Retail will also report on retail design, alongside the latest technology innovation in the industry. The two related publications will combine forces to deliver in-depth content focussing on retail trends, news, analysis and opinion.

The move to combine both publications follows in the footsteps of the amalgamation of Reed Exhibitions’ three retail events into one unified show, RetailEXPO.

The decision was made off the back of research which spoke to over 150 senior retailers and brands that represent the readers and audience – from CEOs to sole traders, from multinationals to small independent shops, as well as pureplay and omnichannel businesses. The findings revealed greater need for collaboration amongst retail teams, with design now working more closely together with technology, property and marketing to deliver enhanced customer experiences.

“Through all of the transformations of the retail industry, our focus is on the needs of our readers. Retail survival requires addressing customer needs holistically, and we believe that this same mentality should be applied to our readers,” said Eleanor Dallaway, editorial director of Essential Retail and Retail Design World.

We want to give the retail industry and community one place to go to stay informed, to foster new relationships with peers and to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills they need to do their jobs.”

Rebecca Harper, publishing director of Essential Retail and Retail Design World added: “Delivering everything you need to know in the retail community, when you need to know it, has always been the primary aim of both Essential Retail and Retail Design World so by bringing the two sites together we can truly deliver on that promise. This is an exciting evolution of our retail offering and enables us to align the content and learning opportunities we offer with the needs of the industry more effectively. As the industry adapts and changes to meet the requirements of the modern consumer so will we.”

Caroline Baldwin will continue in her role as Editor of Essential Retail. The newly amalgamated news site can be found at: https://www.essentialretail.com/
