Asos launches Google Assistant voice app

Asos has launched a voice app called Enki using Google Assistant.

UK and US shoppers can talk to Enki through their Google Home smart speaker or the Google Assistant app on their smartphone. The voice-enabled chatbot – or fashionbot – helps customers shop the latest products across six of the top Asos categories in womenswear and menswear.

Enki first appeared as an Asos chatbot service on Facebook Messenger in the UK earlier this year. Shoppers have been using the AI-driven solution to search the eCommerce site using images from the web or taken on their smartphones, while Enki also recommends brands and provides style matches.  

“With 85,000 products on site at any one time, and on average 5,000 new items added each week, it’s more important than ever to make it easy for our customers to stay on top of what’s new on ASOS,” said Jason Gregory, senior product manager at ASOS.

“With the launch of Enki on Facebook Messenger and now Google Assistant, we’re exploring ways that conversational commerce can help us make the ASOS shopping experience as easy and intuitive as possible.”

Asos plans to take feedback from customers using the voice technology and refine the solution further.
