Asos connects with Israeli retail technology and eCommerce start-ups

Online fashion house Asos will start a new partnership with Israeli innovation hub Re:Tech later this month, as it looks to connect with new technology companies.

Launching on 19 June with a two-day event in Tel-Aviv, the collaboration will give the UK business intimate access to retail technology and eCommerce start-ups.

Over the next year, Re:Tech plans to curate and manage a series of structured development labs and dedicated events where representatives from Asos will meet organisations offering solutions specific to the retailer’s stated business challenges.

At the launch event, start-ups will be given the chance to pitch their products to Asos. There is still availability for companies to join the line-up and get involved in the event, even at this late stage.

Businesses invited to apply include those focused on solving key challenges for online retailers, such as enhancing user experience, optimising conversion and saving costs.

Organisations that have a strong team specialised in deep technologies, or have a disruptive product that has already been proven to work in the online retail space are also encouraged to put themselves forward.

The first structured lab will follow later in the year to guide start-ups through a series of development stages, including mentoring, proof of concept and demo days.

Cliff Cohen, chief information officer at Asos, said: “Israel is renowned for its cutting-edge tech start-ups, many of which are developing solutions across retail, fashion and eCommerce.

“With Re:Tech’s help, we’ll be able to plug into this thinking to solve challenges and potentially foster long-term partnerships, expanding on the work we’re already doing in the country."

Alla Foht, partner and chief business development officer at Re:Tech, called the programme “a great opportunity for the Israeli tech community to showcase its talent and expertise to a world-leading brand".
