M&S offers shopping bag courier service in West End

Marks & Spencer is the latest West End retailer to sign up to a store-to-door delivery platform.

The retailer has partnered with Dropit, which provides a courier service for customers shopping in London's West End.

The analytics and logistics company integrates with the existing local courier network, so customers can drop multiple bags off at multiple shops in the Oxford Street and Regent Street area, knowing their bags will be delivered to their door later that day.

Peter Line, head of retail operations at M&S, said “At M&S we put the customer at the heart of everything we do – from our innovative food and quality clothing products, to the services we offer in-store and online. We’re pleased to be able to improve the customer experience at two of our biggest stores by working in partnership with Dropit.”

Karin Cabili, Dropit’s CEO and founder, added. “Our partnership with such a well-known UK retailer as Marks & Spencer is an important validation of the Dropit service and we can’t wait to work with them on delivering a retail revolution that reinvigorates the high street and puts the customer first. We’ve enjoyed working with the M&S team over the last few weeks and are inspired by their enthusiasm for their customers.”

Dropit already has 40 retailer partners situated in the West End of London, including Liberty London, Uniqlo, Superdry, Lululemon and River Island, who offer the service to customers for a day pass costing £10.

Customers can drop off as many shopping bags as they like at participating retailers – even if the items have been purchased from non-Dropit partners. This allows retailers to understand valuable data about other shops their customers are buying from.

Dropit also claims to increase average transaction value and in-store dwell time, with Lululemon citing an increase in average transaction value from £150 to £600.

For a limited time, shoppers who buy a Dropit day pass for £10 will receive a £20 voucher to spend in the two partnered Marks & Spencer stores on Oxford Street.
