Casper launches physical pop-up store in London

Casper has launched its first physical UK store in London's Convent garden. The pop-up which will be open every day until December encourages customers to pass by or book a "snooze session" for power nap to test out its offering of mattresses, sheets and pillows.

The Casper House features "cosy private rooms for those looking to escape the busy London grind". The retailer also plans to host free events for the public.

Constantin Eis, co-founder and global managing director at Casper said: "Since our very recent launch in the UK, we want to invite Londoners to be our guests at Casper House, take a break from their busy lives and experience our perfect mattress, pillow and sheet. Our guests will have the opportunity to finally ‘meet’ the original and inimitable mattress-in-a-box."

The US mattress brand only bought its products across The Pond this summer, selling its range of mattresses online and delivering to customers, compressed in a box. Customers who purchase a Casper mattress from the new store can take advantage of a bike courier service if they live in a 10-mile radius of Covent Garden.

The start-up has received $70 million funding to date and generated $100 million in sales in 2015. Casper has also tried out the pop-up store concept in the US.

Eis told Essential Retail back in August that the Casper concept reduces the choices facing an already overwhelmed customer. "Which is why our product design was always to fit the vast majority of people and so much thought has gone into learning about pressure release parts of the body," he explained.

"From our website design, everything is very simple and clear and that's how we want to communicate – we do believe in cutting out all this noise. And you will never see us doing a big-time promotion. Instead, we reward people for a positive results, so if you tell someone else about us and they purchase, we would give you a £50 Amazon voucher to redeem and your friend £50 off the mattress. How we always try to grow the business is through positive referral."
