Furniture Village debuts new website

Furniture Village has launched a new website as part of its £1 million investment into digital and in-store technologies.

Working with systems integrator Greenlight, the retailer chose Demandware's Commerce Cloud platform in a website revamp which would support its continued online growth. In recent years, Furniture Village has witnessed double-digit growth online, but it soon realized its previous platform had "reached its full potential".

The new website – which took 16 weeks to build – claims to improve customer experience by delivering a fast, responsive, contemporary design across mobile, tablet and desktop.

"With recent research highlighting that more than 40% of shoppers would purchase a major furniture item online and knowing that the majority of big-ticket transactions involve some element of online interaction, it was essential that we replatformed, in order to deliver an improved experience and achieve our online growth targets, " said Georgina Stoaling, director of eCommerce at Furniture Village.

“We chose Greenlight Commerce for their understanding of what we were trying to achieve in our market, coupled with their knowledge of what is required to launch a Demandware platform within a tight timeframe and to budget.”

The new platform also allowed Furniture Village to integrate a number of retail solutions including Amplience, Feefo reviews and Live Chat.

Speaking to Essential Retail, Kevin Murray, managing director at Greenlight Commerce, described how Amplience enables Furniture Village to deliver rich and engaging shoppable content, while Feefo is used to gather product and service feedback, which are surfaced on the site and can be used to filter and order products listings.

"The Furniture Village Live Chat solution provides another route for customers to engage with the retailer's furniture experts as they discover and research on the site," he added. "Assistance is given on any aspect of the shopping journey from product queries to assisting with the purchase and delivery details."

Murray continued: "Our team drew on its deep understanding of retail and focus on growth to design and implement a next generation commerce solution. We are confident that this new site will deliver a premium customer experience across all digital touch points to drive sales.”

Furniture Village will continue to work with Greenlight to support the new platform, as well as adding new services to enhance the ongoing digital transformation

In fact, Greenlight has recently been working with the wider industry to bring clarity to the replatforming process. After gaining advice from brands including B&Q, Carphone Warehouse, Moet Hennessy, GHD, and Jacques Vert, the systems integrator has created a guide to replatforming.

The document, titled 'Replatforming: The Good, The Bad and the Downright Ugly’, detailed complications which occur during a replatforming project.
