DMA appoints Experian president to the board

Experian Marketing Services' group president, Steve Wagner has joined the Direct Marketing Association's board of directors, sitting alongside marketing leaders from across the industry.

Following a number of regional and global positions at Experian, Wagner was recently promoted to group president of Experian Marketing Services in North America. Wagner joined Experian in 2008 and prior to this he held roles at Oliver Wyman and Clifford Chance.

"DMA is attracting remarkable and diverse leaders to our board, and this rich diversity of marketers, solution providers, publishers and agencies uniquely positions DMA to address industry challenges from the highest vantage point without being beholden to a particular segment of the industry," said Tom Benton, DMA’s CEO. "We are thrilled to have an executive with Steve’s level of experience join us on our board of directors. Steve brings valuable insight and expertise to the organisation and will play a key role in helping us identify, launch and propel innovations and high-value resources and solutions for our members."

Last month, Juniper Research found that digital retail marketing spend will increase from $174 billion in 2015, to $362.1 billion by 2020.

While the research concluded that advertising would drive digital marketing growth, it also stated that the use of coupons will increase, partly due to the rise of Bluetooth beacon technology and proximity marketing.

Juniper forecasted that nearly 1.6 billion coupons will be delivered annually to consumers via beacon technology by 2020, up from 11 million this year. Over 80% of the coupons issued over the next four years will be on mobile devices, compared to under 20% on PCs and laptops, while ad blocking technologies will impact global digital advertising revenues by 10% by 2020.

DMA was founded in 1917 and is the world’s largest trade association dedicated to advancing and protecting responsible data-driven marketing.
