John Lewis pioneers Clipper's latest click & collect facility

Clipper Logistics has announced John Lewis as the first retail partner for its new shared-use facility in Northampton. The fulfilment centre, which is due to go live later this year, will provide retailers with services, including distribution preparation and returns management under its Boomerang sub-brand.

Clipper will also manage John Lewis' returns across all ranges, including electrical products.

One of the early adopters of click & collect, John Lewis disrupted this fulfilment trend last year by charging for orders under £30 which are collected in store.

Clipper has been working with the John Lewis Partnership to tackle the rising demands of click & collect. Last autumn the vendor began by working with 100 Waitrose stores.

Additional sortation capacity will be installed at the new Northampton site, which will enable Clipper to provide a nationwide click & collect service for John Lewis and other retailers, from the autumn 2016.

Tony Mannix, CEO at Clipper, said: "We are delighted to add another flagship site into the Clipper network. This new facility is shared use and has John Lewis as the anchor customer. We will initially provide pre-retail and returns management capabilities utilising our Boomerang solution for the iconic retailer. In addition the site will act as a further sortation hub for our recently created retail focussed click & collect initiative"

Clipper has said its financial results for the year ending 30 April 2016 are expected to be in-line with expectation, with continued growth in revenue, operating profit and net earnings.
