PhotoBox secures former eBay marketplace exec as CEO

Former eBay executive, Jody Ford, will be joining PhotoBox as its new CEO from July 19 2016. Ford will replace Stan Laurent, who is leaving the brand after ten years.

Ford will join PhotoBox – which owns brands including Moonpig, Hofmann and posterXXL – from eBay, where he most recently led global growth at the corporation's marketplace division. In this role he delivered multi-billion dollar increases in sales for eBay and led a team of 400 people across the US, Europe and Asia, managing a budget of $500 million.

He also led the development and implementation of eBay's worldwide mobile business strategy by building digital consumer facing propositions in the US and Europe. Additionally, he headed up several of eBay’s European businesses including fashion and motors. Prior to eBay he worked across Europe in technology and mobile-related roles, including Orange, as well consulting at McKinsey.

Ford is currently located California with his spouse and three children, but will move to the UK to join the PhotoBox team.

"I am very excited to be working closely with Ford as he leads this next chapter for our family of brands. Jody brings with him a wealth of market leading knowledge and expertise from his time at eBay, not least launching the hugely successful international multi-platform personalisation offering. His leadership credentials, coupled with his passion, global outlook and genuine appreciation for the PhotoBox culture we know and love, make him a great fit to lead us forward," said Doug McCallum, chairman of PhotoBox.

"I would also like to thank Stan for his 10 years of stewardship as CEO. During this time he has led the group through four significant acquisitions and record growth to create a market leading and profitable global business. The team and I wish him every success for the future."

Laurent stepped down as CEO of PhotoBox earlier this month, but will continue to be a long-term investor in the business. He oversaw the acquisitions of Moonpig in 2011 and posterXXL last year and under his leadership, PhotoBox has grown over twenty-fold, from a £13 million business to the nearly £300 million. In 2015, the group saw 9 million customers from over 20 countries across the globe use its personalisation services.

Ford added: "I am very pleased to take the helm at PhotoBox, a hugely innovative and ambitious business. One of my main aims will be finding new ways to keep delighting our customers every day as they celebrate special moments and make new memories."

He said: "The group has big potential and I am looking forward to working with the fantastic team that has brought the group to the strong position in which I find it. Together, I am confident we can enhance and evolve our products and offering even further as we strive to make the next ten years even more exciting than the last."
