Bathstore furthers partnership with DHL

Bathstore and DHL have entered into a five year logistics arrangement worth £37.5 million.

Continuing its business relationship with the retailer, DHL will manage transport and warehousing for Bathstore delivering to 168 stores.

DHL will also provide two man home deliveries to consumers as part of the contract and will make 200,000 deliveries - both to stores and consumers’ homes.

“We are very pleased to have extended our existing contract with DHL and look forward to continuing our partnership with the logistics provider,” said Bathstore’s CEO, Gary Favell. “Creating dream bathrooms for people is what we do, and part of that service is ensuring customers receive their products swiftly at a time that works for them, the innovative and agile solutions provided by DHL will improve efficiencies across our business.”

Supply chain giant has also agreed to offer consolidated deliveries as part of the contract. This will improve efficiency and reduce costs for the retailer as DHL will be able to collaborate with other suppliers so that orders from separate customers can go in one delivery instead of two. Using scanning logistics technologies, DHL will also improve accuracy for the retailer and reduce consumer returns to store.

Tim Slater, MD of transport at DHL Supply Chain, added: “We’re delighted to have extended our contract with Bathstore, the UK’s leading specialist bathroom retailer. Building on our experience in the retail and transport sectors we are looking forward to offering Bathstore innovative logistics solutions and providing an outstanding service to consumers during home deliveries.”

The contract also aims to create 100 jobs in warehousing and transport across the five years.
