Wyevale Garden Centres seeks to streamline business processes

UK retailer Wyevale Garden Centres (WGC) is looking to streamline its businesses processes after agreeing a contract with supply chain solutions provider Relex.

Working with the Finland-based vendor, which also has offices in the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany, WGC will begin to transition towards automating and improving its stock management processes as it looks to boost sales and increase profitability.

Relex and the 149-strong garden centre chain expect to go live with a pilot in September ahead of a full roll-out of the system in 2016.

Dan Zinner, trading director at WGC, said he expects the partnership with Relex to lead to better forecasting, increased availability and reduced wastage.

"Furthermore, the system will help us to better prepare for promotions and high demand periods such as Mother's Day and Easter, ensuring we have the right product, at the right place, at the right time," he explained.

Meanwhile, department store chain Debenhams has recruited Kerry Logistics to support its growing export market in the Middle East. It comes after Debenhams' competitor House of Fraser opted to use the vendor's services, to help expand its eCommerce operations in China over the coming 12 months.

Kerry will handle all airfreight from Debenhams' distribution centre in Peterborough to various destinations in the Middle East, including Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
