French Connection renews focus on affiliate marketing

French Connection has consolidated its UK affiliate marketing programme from Rakuten Linkshare, to partner exclusively with Affiliate Window.

A joint statement from the brand and Affiliate Window said a quarter of the digital team's resource is focused on affiliate marketing, but this is expected to increase in the coming months as part of the new agreement.

Particular attention will be paid to increasing French Connection's engagement with content sites and new customer acquisition, in conjunction with a wider campaign to raise awareness of the brand. In addition to working closely with third-party publishers, the retailer is set to grow its content offering, its unique offers and its incentives to purchase.

French Connection's mobile site already has affiliate tracking implemented and when this is coupled with Affiliate Window's cross-device tracking technology, publishers will have an opportunity to be rewarded for multi-device sales.

The latest financial results from French Connection show the company reduced its losses from £4.4 million last year to £0.8 million in the 12 months to 31 January 2015. Group revenue totalled £178.5 million, which was down 5.8% year on year.

The sales decline came as the business reduced its retail store portfolio, shuttering nine non-contributing stores over the course of the year. UK and Europe retail like-for-like sales dropped by 3%, while wholesale revenues were up by 4.6%.
