eCommerce Quarter comes to RBTE 2016

The new eCommerce Quarter will debut early next year at RBTE – Europe's largest end-to-end retail solutions show.

The 'show within a show' will feature more than 50 stands devoted exclusively to eCommerce vendors, along with an eCommerce conference theatre hosting case studies and 'how to' tutorial sessions.

RBTE event director Matt Bradley said: "RBTE already covers all areas of retail, but as the impact of eCommerce on retail continues to grow every touchpoint is still evolving.

"All the components of the multichannel retail ecosystem are changing rapidly to keep pace, as organisational silos dissolve and virtual and physical retail continue to merge. RBTE is the ideal environment to focus on these changes, as it's the only event that covers every aspect of retail from the connected consumer through to back-office operations, allowing eCommerce to be examined in its full context."

Industry consultant Chris Jones, author of The Multichannel RetailHandbook, is supporting the new initiative.

"It's impossible today to think about retail without thinking about eCommerce," he explained.

"It's no longer a topic that can be considered win isolation: eCommerce is pervasive and is impacting every member of the retailer's team. This is why RBTE, with its focus on retail end-to-end, is placing eCommerce at the heart of its 2016 event."

Essential eCommerce

The eCommerce Quarter will be supported by the launch of Essential eCommerce, a new separate section of Essential Retail that will be devoted to online retailing.

Essential eCommerce is set to focus on the latest developments impacting the growing online retail scene, featuring big interviews with the key industry players, in-depth features on all the topical issues and an array of articles created to help shape retailers' digital strategies.

Essential Retail's new deputy editor, Caroline Baldwin, will head up the eCommerce news service.

"The UK is one of the most advanced countries when it comes to eCommerce, but there is still so much to learn about this channel which is completely changing the way consumers shop," explained Baldwin.

"Essential eCommerce will look at retailers already deploying digital-first strategies, while investigating the latest technologies which will change the future of retail."

RBTE 2016 takes place at London's Olympia between 9-10 March.
