RBTE ramps up payments focus

RBTE, Europe's largest end-to-end retail solutions conference and exhibition, will be putting a significant focus on the ever evolving payments landscape at its event in 2016.

With a dedicated Payments Theatre featuring speakers from large retailers and other key players in the sector, in addition to over 40 retail payment specialists showcasing their wares on the exhibition floor, the event is expected to shine a light on all the latest companies, innovative strategies and solutions currently helping transform the market.

Since its launch in 2011 RBTE has been the leading merchant-facing payments exhibition, but as this part of retail continues to change at a rapid rate – due to factors such as the advent of new technology, fresh regulations and consumer behaviour – the 2016 edition of the show is expected to be more payments-focused than ever before.

The Payments Theatre is being curated by RBTE's independent payments expert, Mark McMurtrie, director at The Payments Consultancy.

"RBTE has become the premier UK event for retailers looking to discover the latest business and technology solutions and meet new suppliers, and payments is a major reason for their visit," he explained.

"Any company supplying payment products and services to retailers should make RBTE a key element of their sales and marketing plan. There is no other comparable UK retail event for lead generation and brand awareness purposes."

Among the companies operating in the payments field which are already signed up to exhibit at RBTE 2016 is Spire Payments, which has returned to the event following a successful first appearance in 2015.

Nigel Dean, marketing director at Spire, commented: "We attended RBTE for the first time this year and found the event extremely productive and we have already booked another stand for 2016.

"The show gave us the opportunity to speak with a number of major retailers and acquirers that visited our stand throughout the two-day event. A common theme in our discussions was the challenge of upgrading payment terminal estates to support contactless and NFC technology as consumer adoption grows, and reconciling this with future opportunities around MpoS."

RBTE caters for all stakeholders within the payments ecosystem including international schemes, acquirers, PSPs, ISOs, software suppliers, mobile payments, terminal manufacturers, stored value, foreign currency, and cash management systems.
