RBTE 2016: Spire Payments signs up for second successive year

Retail technology companies that exhibited at RBTE 2015 have rushed to sign up to next year's event at a record rate, and Essential Retail is running a series of Q&As with the early re-bookers over the coming months.

Today it is the turn of Spire Payments. The company's marketing director, Nigel Dean, explains why the business is returning to RBTE for 2016, and what key challenges retailers are set to face over the coming months.

What were your highlights from RBTE 2015?

This was the first year Spire Payments exhibited at RBTE and the event was a perfect platform to present our complete point of sale (PoS) product range, including mobile PoS. Interest from large retailers was significant and post-event activities have been extremely positive.

What were the top three reasons for re-booking a stand and confirming your appearance at RBTE 2016?

The top three reasons for rebooking the stand are as follows:

1.) The ability to show case our extensive PoS portfolio to a large number of key retailers;

2.) A perfect opportunity to conduct meetings with current retailers;

3.) RBTE is clearly seen as the key retailer event of the year.

What are the main areas of focus for your business in the year ahead?

The main focus for Spire Payments is to leverage our complete range of PoS solution across a wide diversity of market verticals across the globe.

Which technologies in particular do you predict will shake up retail in 2015/16?

MPoS, NFC, and payment solutions such as Apply Pay

What is currently the greatest challenge to (a) your business and (b) the wider retailer industry?

(a) Ensuring our product range is compliant with the very latest security and technological trends;

(b) The need for retailers to upgrade their payment infrastructures to comply with ever increasing security and technological trends. This has significant cost implications.

The next RBTE takes place at London's Olympia between 9-10 March 2016.
