Neteven aiming to help UK retailers reach French market

European marketplace management provider Neteven has this week announced a number of new partnerships that it says will help UK retailers and brands reach customers in France.

The company, which was founded in 2005 by a group of technologists including former eBay bosses, is putting the processes in place to enable British firms to sell their products on eight eCommerce portals, including those operated by Darty and Boulanger.

Neteven has also integrated the five most recent websites from French marketplace Cdiscount, which are dedicated to the categories of DIY, decoration, baby care, kids and garden items respectively. Meanwhile, a partnership between Neteven and new fashion marketplace Menlook has also been agreed.

Greg Zemor, CEO of Neteven, remarked: "Hundreds of millions of fashion, high-tech and lifestyle products are available on Neteven's platform, sparking a great deal of interest among these new marketplaces.

"After initial exchanges, we made the joint decision to integrate our platforms. The added sales channels enable our customers to significantly increase their revenue and represent a valuable cross-border trade opportunity for UK retailers."

Recent Global Shopper research from business intelligence provider Planet Retail suggests that France's retail market will grow by 14.4% over the next five years. Currently accounting for around 6.7% of overall retail sales, eCommerce is expected to represent 13.2% of trading by 2019.

It is estimated that €57.9 billion will be transacted online, representing a growth rate of 99.2%. Planet Retail predicts a growth rate of 7.4% in store-based sales over the same period.
