WHSmith protects in-store tablets with Tuffscreen

High street mainstay WHSmith has invested in Tuffscreen covers to help protect its recent investment in store technology.

The screen protectors have been used on more than 1,200 tablet devices deployed in the stationery and book retailer's stores across the UK. The HP Elitepad tablets are part of WHSmith's ongoing business programme to improve store efficiency and are used by staff when serving customers away from a fixed checkout point.

Other customers of Bristol-based Tuffscreen include Lothian & Borders Police, Euro Car Parks and Burnett's Manufacturing.

Steve Wood, operations director at WHSmith, called the investment in Tuffscreen's tablet protectors as "very worthwhile", and revealed  that the retailer has also decided to use the screen protectors for company mobile phones.

"We have been very impressed with the innovative product and unique performance of Tuffscreen screen protectors," Wood explained.

"Their ability to deliver a bespoke item on time and on budget for such an important project, made them an obvious choice. The solution is very cost effective, massively reducing damage rates for a fraction of the cost of repair or replacement."
