Fashion e-tailer Missguided invests in fulfilment and logistics

Missguided has agreed a new logistics partnership with Norbert Dentressangle as well as detailing plans to expand its Manchester base.

In a move to keep pace with the business's ambitious growth strategy, the fashion e-tailer has secured a seven-year deal with Norbert Dentressangle that will see the transport and logistics company manage its international e-fulfilment operation. It is hoped the partnership will provide a platform for Missguided to grow its online operations in UK, US, France and Australia, as well as support expansion into new territories.

Later this year the company will move to a brand new office in Salford Quays before opening a new fulfilment centre in 2016, which the business says will create a number of new job opportunities. It will mark the first time the Missguided warehouse and office has been split, but staff are expected to work across both locations as the retailer looks to keep all departments integrated.

Norbert Dentressangle will take over responsibility for the warehouse, including the receipt of goods from Missguided's suppliers, order picking, marshalling, packing, despatch and returns management - working closely with the in-house customer care team.

Work on the new fulfilment facility will start in June this year, with an estimated go-live date in April 2016. The 250,000 sq ft facility and mezzanine structure will provide total floor space in excess of one million sq ft, which will be more than five times larger than the current site.

Nitin Passi, managing director of Missguided, said: "The past few years have seen significant new resource join the team, and so it comes as no surprise that we have out-grown are current premises.

"We are glad to be staying close to our present location but it is hugely exciting to be able to start from scratch and create an office space which echoes the Missguided spirit. We are hugely excited to be expanding our operations in light of the phenomenal growth of the company. Our key challenge as we continue to grow in the UK and across borders is to maintain the highest standards of customer experience."
