Mothercare recruits Manhattan to aid multichannel journey

Mothercare is looking to revamp its supply chain by making store stock available for online sales, shipping products from its shops and speeding up delivery options through express click & collect services, following a new partnership with Manhattan Associates.

The retailer of products for parents and young children will use Manhattan's supply chain commerce solutions as part of its strategy to modernise the UK-based business and improve customer service across its estate.

Mothercare has opted for vendor's Distributed Order Management and Store Inventory and Fulfilment tools, with the implementation of the solutions set to go live early this year.

Matt Stringer, chief operating officer at Mothercare, commented: "This strategic global investment in Manhattan's solutions will help us transform our business.

"We're building our capabilities to provide a 'best in class' multichannel experience – offering our customers what they want, when they want, and how they want it."

Craig Sears-Black, UK managing director of Manhattan Associates added that "next day order fulfilment is no longer good enough for the typical customer".

Mothercare's collaboration with Manhattan marks the latest move by its new CEO Mark Newton Jones to modernise the business and provide a multichannel service to customers.

Jones detailed his vision for the company at a recent staff event, with more technological innovations linking the company's large property portfolio to its burgeoning online operation expected to be introduced in the near future.
