Swedish delivery management business Centiro targets UK

Sweden-based delivery management solutions provider Centiro has launched in the UK and will be opening London offices in the coming months.

Centiro already operates on an international scale, providing a cloud-based service to retailers across a number of sectors including online pure-plays such as Nelly.com and leading multichannel players in its home country.

Niklas Hedin, CEO of the delivery management firm, told delegates at a special launch party in London's Shoreditch that the company was already in conversation with a number of large retail businesses in the UK and is confident about gaining share in what he views as one of Europe's most advanced eCommerce and home delivery markets.

"The growth of online retail in the UK shows no signs of slowing down, which in turn is putting pressure on retailers' delivery and reverse logistics capabilities," he explained.

Hedin also suggested that the demand from UK shoppers for multiple fulfilment options has prompted retailers to expand their carrier networks, which in turn has resulted in them losing control of the brand experience – "as last mile-interactions are owned by the carriers they use".

Reflecting on the prospect of retailers being able to white-label Centiro, he added: "Customers are often re-directed to a carrier's website for tracking information.

"Our delivery management platform will enable UK retailers to regain control of their delivery networks and provide their customers with a full-circle brand experience."

Centiro invited a large percentage of its workforce to London for the launch party, with CEO Hedin conducting a 45-minute presentation that included on-stage interviews with some of the business's workforce.

Hedin said that part of the company philosophy is to give people at all levels of the business an opportunity to share their ideas with senior management on everyday issues and wider company strategy.

Explaining what the organisation can offer the UK retail market, he noted: "The company's cloud-based platform enables retailers to quickly and easily on-board new carriers and expand into new markets, whilst at the same time giving them consistent visibility and control over performance and cost.

"This will enable UK retailers to better tailor their delivery services to customer needs and fulfil order promises."
