Graze.com on the hunt for tech talent

Graze.com, an online retailer that sells tailored snack boxes direct to consumers, is looking to recruit staff from the technology and food sectors as it continues to grow its operations in the US.

The UK-based business has been in hiring mode since it launched in the US last December, but that activity is set to be ramped up following this week's appointment of Michael Farry as the organisation's people director.

Farry will help manage the US expansion for a company that has in the past employed specialist data scientists and astrophysicists to contribute to what it describes as its "unique technology" offering, which entails special algorithms that help personalise its customer offering.

The new people director joins Graze having spent two and a half years as HR director at personalised publishing group Photobox, where he helped drive a people and culture programme during a period of significant change and growth for the company.

Commenting on the new arrival, Anthony Fletcher, CEO of Graze, said: "His wealth of experience and expertise will be critical to helping us ensure we keep our professional edge.

"We have grown from a few people working from a bedroom to almost 500 employees in six years and this accelerated growth needs to be carefully managed."

Graze was established in 2008 by the founders of Lovefilm, an online movie service that was fully acquired by eCommerce giant Amazon at the start of 2011.

Its headquarters are in London, with its recently launched US operation running from New Jersey. The company is majority-owned by American investor the Carlyle Group, with Octopus Investments and DFJ Esprit and Management owning the remaining share.
