John Lewis, Amazon and Next pick up online accolades

Department store chain John Lewis, online pureplay Amazon and multichannel retailer Next were all awarded for their eCommerce offerings at an event in London today.

The three companies all picked up multichannel-focused prizes at retail industry research group Verdict's Customer Satisfaction Awards, held at the London Stock Exchange in central London.

Although an annual survey, this year marked the first time Verdict had asked customers to rank their satisfaction levels around online retailing – and John Lewis was judged best online retailer overall and top for online fulfilment. Amazon picked up the accolade for best online pureplay and Next won the prize for best click & collect service.

Some 5,800 customers in the UK took part in the Verdict survey, which asked people to judge retailers on their service, products and overall offering.

John Lewis also picked up the overall award for customer satisfaction, ranking ahead of Dunelm, Ikea, Brantano and Matalan, which completed this year's top five.

Verdict lead analyst Sarah Peters said: "John Lewis retained its title this year coming top overall as well as in its main product categories of homewares and electricals. 

"As Britain's favourite retailer, John Lewis continues to deliver the product ranges, inspiration and trust that customers appreciate."
