Casio stores set to adopt PMC's mobile PoS

Casio is preparing to introduce retail technology company PMC's Store Enabler tool across its UK store estate, as it looks to provide a mobile point of sale (MPoS) service for its customers.

Store Enabler, which was launched last year, allows retailers to transform their existing website into an MPoS system, and it can scan products, print receipts and take secure payments at any location within the store. PMC has partnered with Epson and YESpay to bring the product to market.

According to PMC, other retailers are showing an interest in adopting the new technology – and more than 30 businesses turned up to Casio's Covent Garden store in London, last month, to see the system in action.

Paul Mason, CEO of PMC, commented: "We wanted to give retailers the opportunity to see the benefits Store Enabler can drive in a real-life store environment.

"We had a fantastic take up of invitations to the event, proving that retailers are searching for the right solution to their in-store mobile challenges."

Retailers from a variety of sectors were present at the event, including luxury fashion brands, high street clothing retailers and homeware businesses.

Andrew Reason, general sales manager at Casio, remarked: "Casio experiences the same challenges as many other retailers; our stores can only hold a limited subset of our entire range.

"Store Enabler allows us to complete the consultative sales process successfully at the point of decision even if the chosen item isn't at the store with a customer present card transaction. This gives us true range extension and a higher level of customer satisfaction."

PMC is primarily a retail technology consultancy, and Store Enabler represents the company's first foray into launching its own retail system for the industry. The business says it has had extended conversations with a number of leading retailers about implementing the tool, and it hopes to sign supplier contracts with more organisations later this year.
