Global insight: Dubai's Tejuri.com teams up with IORMA

Retailers and brands trading in the Middle East via Dubai-based online shopping mall Tejuri.com will be able to access guidance on their omnichannel strategies, following the announcement of a new partnership this week.

Tejuri.com has aligned itself with IORMA (International Omni Retailing Markets Association), a new members association that is aiming to become a hub for global retail industry research and development as the digital economy continues its growth. The partnership will allow the online mall to tap into the group's research and expertise as consumer habits continue to change, driven by the evolution of technology.

IORMA board members include senior retail figures such as World Retail Congress founder and chairman Ian McGarrigle, ex-British Retail Consortium director-general Stephen Robertson and former Selfridges CEO Peter Williams.

Commenting on the new tie-up, managing director of Tejuri.com Ayaz Maqbool said: "The Middle East retail market is in a state of evolution with consumer behaviour shifting from pure offline to omnichannel retailing.

"As the region's biggest online mall, we are conscious that online retailing is going to be a significant force in the future of retail. To stay ahead of the curve, it is imperative that we are aware of the impact of global consumer trends and behaviour

"Our partnership with IORMA will help us adapt our tactics to changing consumer needs, in order to cater to our consumers in the most efficient and effective manner."

Tejuri.com itself offers guidance and direction to retailers and brands that join its online mall, and it can provide insight into how businesses should leverage their eCommerce and offline offerings.

Current top sellers on the website include products from brands such as Apple, Samsung and Garmin, but it sells products in all the major retail categories. Tejuri, which was launched in March 2013, is also endorsed by the Department of Economic Development in Dubai.
