Cash drawer and PoS solutions manufacturer Cash Bases is returning to RBTE, and it will be showcasing its range of products at the two-day event at London Olympia between 9-10 March 2016.

Essential Retail caught up with Steve Roys, sales director at Cash Bases, to find out more about the company and its plans for the spring show.

Why have you booked for RBTE 2016?

Cash Bases has been attending RBTE since it first opened its doors five years ago. The show has grown from strength to strength and has always proved very successful for us year after year. RBTE is without doubt the flagship retail event in the UK and it is important that Cash Bases attends to connect with all the major players in the retail industry.

In September 2015, Cash Bases merged with APG Cash Drawer to create a world-leading cash management solution company, differentiated by its ability to deliver innovative products to its customers across the globe. RBTE provides the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the benefits that this will bring to our customers.

What new technology will you be displaying at RBTE 2016, and why is it relevant?

With 80% of all global payments made with cash and with bank note output forecasted to rise by 5% (according to the Financial Times, August 2015), cash is still king. For retailers cash is expensive as it creates a security risk and cash handling processes are incredibly time consuming for staff.

Our SMARTtill Cash Management solution, on display at RBTE 2016, ensures that a retailer’s revenue is protected and eases the burden of cash handling tasks on staff. SMARTtill immediately counts the cash contents of each individual coin and note compartment after every transaction. The information is then available electronically and can be used to automate, audit and improve store management, cash handling and loss prevention processes.

With SMARTtill retailers no longer need to issue floats for each cashier or count their cash at the beginning or end of shift or perform random till checks. This can release significant cash into the business, and make many man hours available for redeployment to more productive and customer centric tasks.

Name some of the retailers that you are currently working alongside?

25,000 SMARTtills are installed at Tesco Superstore and Extra formats, with plans to roll out a second phase to their Metro and Express stores. We also work with retailers throughout the UK, Europe and further afield too.

What's the best customer service you've experienced this year?

The best customer service has to be from a recent trip to Ikea. We were able to completely customise our choice of furniture though their computer design system, which was an easy and convenient way to ensure that we were totally satisfied with the product we were purchasing. The custom order then arrived the next day. Ikea's speedy and convenient service, together with that personal touch, created a fantastic customer experience.
