Oddbins managing director Ayo Akintola recently said that the battle to bring digital expertise to retail will continue to intensify in the coming years, as companies splash around the small pool of technological expertise available to help future-proof their businesses.

He described the situation as a case of "musical chairs", where the technical staff who can help guide the industry through its future digital journey will find themselves moving from retailer to retailer – unless the sector comes together to upskill staff.
