Supply chain solutions company JDA Software is returning to RBTE, and it will be showcasing its range of products at the two-day event at London Olympia between 9-10 March 2016.

Essential Retail caught up with Jason Shorrock, vice president, retail industry strategy EMEA at JDA, to find out more about the company and its plans for the spring show.

Why have you booked for RBTE 2016? 

Over the years, RBTE has grown into an industry leading event for addressing the challenges and opportunities facing retailers today. For JDA, it is simply one of the best places to showcase our latest retail solutions. 

What new technology will you be displaying at RBTE 2016, and why is it relevant?  

The focus for many retailers today is achieving profitable omnichannel commerce in the face of increasing business complexity. At RBTE, we will be showcasing our end-to-end supply chain solution, Intelligent Retail. The Intelligent Retail product suite includes:

  • Intelligent Fulfillment
  • Intelligent Store
  • Intelligent Planning

We will also be presenting, our next-generation planning solution, which helps retailers create intelligent, personalised and customer-centric plans. This solution is the first from JDA to be powered by Google’s Cloud Platform.

Finally, at our booth we are offering an omnichannel health check, which gives retailers the chance to test and compare their omnichannel "fitness". We will be providing complimentary copies of "Profitable Omnichannel for Dummies" and a fitness bag, to everyone who completes the health assessment.

What's the best customer service you've experienced this year?

The best customer service I experienced this year was at John Lewis, where I purchased a wireless speaker through click & collect for a birthday present. When I went into the store to collect my purchase I had a smooth and frictionless service at the dedicated collection point.

I was also impressed at the level of knowledge the sales attendant had about my product and other alternatives. Truth be told, I actually purchased the wrong speaker that day and had to come back and return it. The returns process was swift and easy, but they did not have the speaker that I initially wanted. However, I remembered a suggestion made by the sales rep so I actually chose an alternative product instead. Usually, I would have just gone to another store, but on this occasion I traded convenience for cost. Goes to show that a little service can go a long way!
