Supply chain technology company Segura Systems is new to RBTE, and it will be showcasing its range of products at the two-day event at London Olympia between 9-10 March 2016.

Essential Retail caught up with Ian Hepworth, CTO and co-founder at Segura Systems, to find out more about the company and its plans for the spring show.

Why have you booked for RBTE 2016?

This is the first year that we’ll be exhibiting at RBTE and we’re looking forward to introducing visitors to Segura. Our supply chain management software can really benefit retail businesses, so RBTE offers a great opportunity to meet key industry professionals.

What new technology will you be displaying at RBTE 2016, and why is it relevant?

Our software helps businesses to understand, monitor and control their supply chain, enabling them to mitigate risk and save money. Retailers can use Segura to map even the most complex supply networks and oversee all orders placed, ensuring that they know exactly who is supplying what, when and where. We offer a phased approach, so retailers can view as much detail as they need to for every component and each supplier, whether that’s simply checking who supplies what, monitoring all orders placed, or even tracking fulfilment.

The system is particularly relevant because it can assist companies in complying with the Modern Slavery Act, which was introduced last autumn and requires all businesses of a certain size to publish statements detailing the steps they have taken to prevent modern slavery within their supply chains.

Name some of the retailers that you are currently working alongside?

We are already working with a number of high-profile retailers and are in talks with many more. So far, we have 2,000 registered factories and 18,000 users on the system, with more being added each month. The feedback from customers and prospects so far has been extremely positive, so we see 2016 being a big year for Segura.

What's the best customer service you've experienced this year?

We’ve always been very impressed with Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) customer service, simply because their infrastructure is so strong. With cloud technology a business’ entire product is dependent on the accessibility, security and reliability provided by the web host, and with AWS, we know that we won’t have any problems.

Using Amazon actually brings many benefits, such as infinite capacity, no capital expenditure costs and added security. It also means we can focus on what we’re good at – helping customers of all sizes to gain the real-time insights they need to fulfil orders and achieve true supply chain visibility.
