Department store chain House of Fraser has opted to use Kerry Logistics' services as it looks to expand its eCommerce operations in China over the coming 12 months.

The retailer is set to open stores across China, with the first three planned for Nanjing, Chongqing, and Xuzhou, but the business is also looking to launch a localised online portal as part of ongoing Asian expansion plans in the wake of its acquisition by Sanpower Group in 2014.

Kerry will operate more than 9,000 sq m of warehousing for the group in Shanghai, providing import agency services, import customs brokerage and domestic distribution and e-fulfilment.

On Thursday (18 June) House of Fraser issued a first-quarter trading update for the 13 weeks to 2 May 2015, with like-for-like sales up 8.1% on the same period in 2014 and online sales growth continuing to increase in pace.

Meanwhile, consumer electronics retailer Maplin – which is also coming off the back of a positive trading update that revealed how sales and profit rose in 2014/15 – has chosen to work with logistics firm iForce in the UK.Electronics retailer Maplin has announced a logistics partnership with iForce Group

The vendor is managing all of the retailer's warehousing operations at its base in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, which includes the introduction of a new warehousing system and management of Maplin's click & collect capability.
