UK department store chain John Lewis is set to host an IT architecture recruitment evening this week as it looks to give tech professionals a chance to learn about careers in this burgeoning area of business.

The free-to-attend event will take place at the retailer's headquarters in London Victoria on Thursday 16 April, with interested parties being encouraged to pre-register for the evening.

The John Lewis team currently has vacancies for technical solution architects (generalist solution architects), and more specialised architects for infrastructure and data, and there will be representatives from the company in attendance on Thursday to discuss the positions and what they entail.

John Lewis's IT team went through a slight restructuring earlier this year, with CIO Paul Coby announcing a new IT directorate that comprises an IT-focused director each for operations, delivery and strategy & planning. Martin Jones, David Hunn and Sarah Venning have assumed these respective roles.

In an interview with Essential Retail, Coby said: "This puts directors who report to me on the same level in the organisation as the buying directors, merchandising directors and retail directors.

"It is a very visible sign of how the role of technology has changed within John Lewis."
