Verifone has officially announced the European launch of its Engage payment solution, with boutique German fashion retailer Anne Rueschenschmidt starting the roll out of the technology across its estate.

The V200c hardware is available to small- to medium-sized businesses across Germany through Intercard, the network service provider (NSP) acquired by Verifone last year. Verifone, which will be exhibiting at RBTE on 9-10 May 2017, is also working with other NSPs to introduce the system to the wider retail industry in Germany.

Engage works for companies connected by Ethernet dial-up or more advanced connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. All payment types, including NFC/contactless, mobile wallets, mobile pay and EMV chip cards, are accepted on the platform – the device can be integrated with a cash register or used as a standalone solution.

The eponymous owner of Anne Rueschenschmidt commented: "We had many customers using the new device our first weekend and we were happy to smoothly and quickly accept mobile wallets and contactless payments.

"We are now in the process of equipping four more stores with Verifone to prepare for a busy holiday season when we are keen to serve customers efficiently using the latest technology."
